Fremantle Convict Prison

Built with convict labour from local sandstone the entryway of the prison is an imposing sight.

The internal grounds used to be made up of vegetable gardens cultivated by the convicts and then later the prisoners.

The internal sleeping dormatories or sections. Anyone for a school camp sleepover?

Geoff reliving old times with the tour guide.

Solitary confinement.

Upstairs, downstairs with a trampoline in the middle, oh sorry that's wire mesh so they can't jump.

Some of the prisoners decorated the walls of their rooms/cells.
What a waste of talent - locked behind bars. What were they thinking?

The Hanging Room.  A new rope was strung each time it was used.

Yuck!
