56kms east of Esperance is Cape Le Grande National Park. Unfortunately the day we chose to visit it was overcast. But not to worry there was plenty to see and it was all amazing enough that the cloudy day didn't matter. Besides my weather witch abilities didn't let me down and the day cleared and the blue sky and sun made an appearance before we were set to leave.
Cape Le Grande is a treasure chest of spectacular landmarks and secluded, untainted beaches.
Whistling Rock - Looks a bit like Albany's Dog Rock. It wasn't really windy when we were there (go figure) so the whistle was just barely audible.
Monoliths overlooking Lucky Bay.
Water swirls around the rocks creating intersting patterns against the rocky headland.
Frenchman's Peak. Looking like any normal hill around the base as your eyes travel upwards it becomes sheer rock faces striated with orange and ochre and then finally the peak itself. If you look closely you can see the archway that has formed. From some views this arch is not noticable, when I first saw it, I actually thought it was just a blob of white paint or rock, it was only as we got closer that we discovered it was a natural rock archway.
Frenchman's Peak from a different perspective.
Waves! Not many but still waves!
And then .....driving back towards Esperance to begin the journey eastwards across the Nullabor...what did we see....
Yep! WAVES! Finally.
