Edith Falls, Katherine River and the town Hot Springs

While staying at the Shady Lane Caravan Park in Katherine we went for a drive up to Edith Falls. Its roughly about the same distance from Katherine as Rollingstone is from Townsville.  It's a beautiful spot and it's reasonably safe to swim there because they have removed any potential croc menaces.  There still the menaces such as pythons, eels, slimy leaves and man nibbling fish to worry about though.  Other brave waders reported that the water was freezing so I didn;t feel to bad about not braving it and going in.

This is one of my favourite pictures of Edith Falls.

This is my next favourite pic.

On the way back to Katherine I noticed these rock formations along the side of the ride. While they didn't have the same attention seeking colours of the Devils Marbles, they could be the equivalent of the Devils Knucklebones or the Devils N...ts if you prefer.

These were just interesting looking. No relevance whatsoever to anything. Just nice rocks.

While Geoff was out getting the engine on the truck checked I decided to go for a walk down the back of the park the the Katherine River which flowed past.  I was very brave I thought as I ventured down a shady pathway with many overhanging trees blocking the sun....scary trees!

But it was worth the walk when I got down there, as you can see from the pics below.  The water was shallow and clear and had quite a good flow happening it would be a great spot to camp with the kids.

Looking down the river towards town it seemed to get a little deeper. Might need to keep eyes open for crocs.

Later that day we went to look at the Katherine Hot Springs which is in town and a popular swimming spot for locals and tourists alike.  After running down the million stairs to get there we got a few photos looked at all the people potentially peeing in the pools (I reckon that's what was making them hot) we turned around and ran back up the stairs without stopping (ha puff ha puff puff ha!)
