Finally heading west to the border.

Yeah! Border here we come!

The landscape was fairly ordinary leaving Katherine, but then we got to Victoria River in the Gregory Ranges just this side of the border and wow! I am in love with this part of the world. Fantastical Boab trees, rock formations with a kaleidoscope of colours, landscapes which changed every ten minutes and rivers and creeks with an abundance of water still in them after the wet season early this year.
Yeah I know boring termite mounds - these are pointies.

The road is long.....and long......
Know this is beginning to show signs of promise!

I just couldn't make these small they are just too magnificient.

Boab's or Boababs as I call them are the most efficient trees.  In the wet they store as much water as they can in their trunks and then use that to survive the dry seasons.  They have a pod like seeds.  These trees often occur in groves all varying in size and width.

See what I mean? And all in just a five hour drive west of Katherine - simply mind boggling!

  1. You need a route map, with pins to show where you stopped along the way, so we can see where you are on the map.
