Lake Argyle

Our first glimpse of what was waiting ahead at Lake Argyle came with this fast flowing overflow creek.  The white crested rapids added a beautiful contrast to break up the deep blue of the water and the brilliant blue of the sky.
We'd decided that for this trip we would just drive around those areas where we could.  Luckily there was a cenic road that took you over the spillway and around to a small picnic area.

Lake Argyle was everything we were told it was, gorgeous, stunning, surreal and just simply amazing.  Many of the surrounding rock faces contain traces of the areas famous zebra rock and the reds and oranges common to cliff faces in this area of the world.

Our first glimpse of Lake Argyle.

In some areas the water was a deep shade of blue and in others it became bright blue or even green, in shadowed areas it became midnight blue.

Can you believe that I was in a car driving along the top of this spillway? It was one lane wide and a l-o-ong way up!

Later we went up to a lookout that overviewed the spillway, even higher up!
Yes I took this photo not Geoff! I'm a lot braver with heights when I'm on my own feet and not relying on wheels.

The Tourist Park had this amazing swimming pool built into the side of  the hill, as you can see
the vista that you look out upon is just glorious.

There are over 80 islands within the Argyle Dam which was built to supply irrigation to the Ord River District.
